Hi, we are called 'Intelligent Service Providers' (As it says at the top), and aim to provide professional-standard website design and cheap web hosting for local businesses and groups. We also do quite a good standup act...

    Successful Week? (:D)

On 29/02/08, we held a mothers day event, selling chocolates. We also sold some presents, including a teddy bear which people from our Fir Vale family could give their mothers (and hopefully gain something out of it ((shhh!))) but more importantly make her day.

It was a hit. We made money, £33 to be precise, not much I know but considering we only spent £50 I'd say it was not bad. We also made mothers and children happy at the same time! What else could a business ask for? Happy customers and lots of money. We sold a whole range of chocolates, from Ferrero Rocher, Bendicks and Thorton's Hearts. Who's wallets couldnt resist our chocolate trance.

Week beginning 03/03/08, was probably our most practical week. Selling raffle tickets by the hundreds, leading to a lucky dip. Although the odds may not have been in favour of the customers, at 50p a ticket, 10 for £2 or 30 for £5 and the prizes to be won, who could resist?

The prizes to be won were, a phone, DVD player, Wi-fi system, mp3 player, chocolate fountain and art set. The money for the prizes was funded by Diane Haimeed (thank you :)) from the BASSSP (Bungreave After School Study Support Project). Three students and two teachers won, (one won twice!). The draw was held on 07/03/08 at 12:45 (dinnertime). Mrs. Bowes (our helpful headteacher, who also used to be a bingo caller) volunteered to pick out the winners and announce their names infront of the audience (just to prove that we were being fair). We made £127.40.

So overall we have made quite a bit of money, way more then x100 what we made before (£0). But we have to keep it up, so its back to the drawing board for another wacky idea to speed us through the last week. We'll keep you updated.

    Bye for now!

Meetingage (does that 'age' work? i think not...)

We had a meeting today, and we may have stumbled accross the proverbial jackpot! Although we decided to cancel the culture show as it would be too complicated to run successfully with our given parameters and we don't feel it would attract sufficient attention to our highly synical pupils who THINK they have better things to do at lunch... such as eat lunch... but luckily we have had strokes of luck and INSPIRATION!

    1) As mother's day's coming up soon and we love our mums, we're going to sell chocolate in school for that. yum... Hannah's contacting Basset's to see if we can strike a deal, although we might end up with liquorice chocolates and jelly babies =\

    2) A local businessman - sorry - businessperson - has agreed to be our guinea pig for our Web Solutions side of things, so we have our £50 deposit already and are in the process of making that (no sleep for me...)

We're also going to have a launch in our Business Enterprise Centre for our web solutions, and will be inviting local businesses to turn up.

And we have.. 20 days! easy... We only have physics modular exams on the 10th :)

    Tataaa

    Culture Show Problem... Resolved :)

Yeah, another update on the Culture Show.

As you know, before the holliday our culture show plans got cut. But not our hopes, Nwnn already told you that our headteacher said no to the culture show, but we had a meeting today (no tea and biscuits, not even a meeting with the headteacher, so just our schools Business Manager, chairs and tables).

We convinced him (I believe) to allow us to go through with the culture show, keeping in mind that there was lots of implications on food, raffle and time. But I assure you that it's going to be a blast, and I'm not exagerating just because I'm the PR (Public Relations) manager.

The perfomers seem prepared and ready to dance infront of a loooooot of people, not that their confidence level is above anything human (:S). Notice how the video on our blog says it's sent by me (I'm Adam Ali, nice to meet you :) ), I just noticed that although I'm sure I watched it a good few times. Back to Big Challenge.

Despite the money I still believe we have a chance at winning the Big challenge, and take a good few smaller prizes, we made £0 and making more. Money is going to come flying in in this next short amount of time (because I wished upon a star :S). A lot of thought has been put into this and everything's going as planned, so meh.

I guess only time can tell. See you soon and I will keep you updated. (ISP is kinda cool isn't it :D)

    We are not amused

After being told by the headteacher to finalise all the details regarding our culture show, and sort everything out for her, they've axed it. We are not happy to say the least. However, once we're back to school we'll lobby to get this going again, as we think it is extremely unfair that this ruling has been brought in for no good reason whatsoever.

In other news, we have found another client for our web services, so I'm slaving away with Adobe Fireworks (joy. No, it really does get annoying after the first ten hours.) But we'll keep you updated on that front...

    Our (lack of) Progress

Well, we're not doing THAT badly - we presented our plan for the culture show to the headteacher, so that's going to be given the go-ahead rather soon (watch this space)

We're planning on having displays of culture from a motley-crew of pupils, as well as a couple of tonnes of food kindly provided by the Kashmir curry centre. That's all going off on the somethingeth of February after half term - oh, we're having a raffle with some phones, an ipod, DVD player, microwave, and some beans for the extra lucky ones...

On the tecky side of things, we have some clients for webhosting so over the holidays will be setting up our server to loan out webspace

    Total earnings so far: £0

oh well... it'll be coming in soon :D

    tata for now,

    ISP

I (on behalf of ISP) do declare!

    Current mood: >:(

    Hiijacked?! HIJACKED?!

We take our privacy and lovely homepage very seriously, and imagine our HORROR and DISGUST on finding out we've been hijacked!! We take this matter with the upmost gravity and shall shortly be filing a lawsuit against the perpetrators of this vicious attack! Please take note of the following from the Computer Misuse Act 1990:

3 Unauthorised modification of computer material

    (1) A person is guilty of an offence if—

    (a) he does any act which causes an unauthorised modification of the contents of any computer

OH WOE all that ranting has made me quite flustered =[ We would just like the hijackers to know that if ISP so wished (which we don't) we could h4x0r you back into the 1980's -_-

But to be fair the video's quite pretty so we'll leave it...

    The Team

The members of the team, from the left in the picture:

Hannah (Marketing Manager/Graphic design) -  Hi, I'm Hannah and I'm all arty-farty so I work on graphic design and publicity, basically I sit in the corner and colour things in.

Adam (Sales/PR Manager)- Not much to say, I'm tall dark and handsome [or so he thinks - ed.] I'm the laziest in the group but make up for it with all my creativity! I LOVE MONEY!

Arzzaq (Event Organiser)- Hiii I'm abit mad and hyper - I get on well with pretty much everyone so I look after the 'people' side of the business... Me and Ferial are in charge of putting the cultural event together which is gonna be fuun!

Llewelyn (IT Manager/l33t  h4x0r)- I introduced myself before, my job is to do all the work while my teamates mess about =P I am geeky and eccentric, which comes in handy. I don't see daylight much, hence my charming appearance in the photo....

Rofiya (Managing Director) - I'm the manager, and a very enthusiastic person! I love leading things and bossing people around, and I laugh at everything even if its not funny! [unless its our latest profit report...]

Ferial (Event Organiser) - Hello! I believe in 'peace and harmony', and love our multicultral group! I think life is great and have a passion for success!

    Hi!

We're ISP! That stands for Intelligent Service Providers, by the way :) Corny? Yes! But you'll remember it...

we are FINALLY up and running, after some slight technical hiccups (we forgot the password... but shh) and after about 5 meetings have decided on our business plan. Our various failed ideas have included:

    • Cat teasers (don't ask.. no, seriously - don't)
    • Flatpack furniture assembly - Come on, it gets boring after the first table leg
    • And more random things that are liable to waste all our money

Well our grand plan is to provide website design and hosting services for local groups and businesses. However, in the mean time we're organising a cultural event in Fir Vale's new business centre 'cos we're multicultral and proud!

Oh, my names Llewelyn (or NWNN? to some) by the way, and I'm the team IT Manager/Geek... Title mean anything? Not really.. but I want something written on the plaquard on my desk =]

So, hope to see you soon, but I've gotta go pick what clothes I'm taking to Boston...

if you want to reach us for some strange reason, do so at: isp.firvale@yahoo.co.uk
